FAQs

My butter melted. What do I do, and can I still use it?

Yes. You can still use it. If your butter melts or arrives melted, give it a stir and place it in the fridge until it hardens. The whipped consistency of the butter may be altered due to the change in temperature but it will have the same benefits and you will receive the same results as you would before it melted. Do not discard your butter.

Are your products safe for pregnant women?

Yes. Our products are safe for pregnant women. Be sure to check the ingredients in case of any sensitivities and allergies.

Can THICK butter be used or mixed with other products like gels and leave-in conditioners?

We do not recommend using THICK butter with gels. The ingredients in gels can cause dryness, flakiness, residue buildup, or stiffness to your twistout/braidout.

We do recommend using it with light leave-in conditioners like spray-on leave-in conditioners.

My Lemon Mint Body Butter feels slightly lighter than my Vanilla Lavender Body butter. Does this mean that there is less product in the Lemon Mint Body Butter Jar?

The Lemon Mint Body Butter is made with more essential oils than the Vanilla Lavender Body Butter. Because of this increase in oil, the butter is stretched out more making it feel lighter but the amount of product in the jar is the same.

Can I use the body butter on my face?

This depends on your skin’s sensitivity. The body butter is made with shea and mango butter which are non-comedogenic. This means it does not clog pores however, the combination of oils and butter could be heavy on your facial skin. Also, the essential oils may be a bit strong for your eyes. If you must use the body butter on your face, please use a tiny amount and be sure to seal it with sunscreen.

I don’t feel the tingling sensation while using Scalp therapy. Does that mean it is not working?

No. Scalp therapy is working whether you feel the tingle or not. The essential oils that activate the sensation are diluted in carrier oils so this can lessen the intensity of the tingle feeling it gives. Everyone's experience will be different depending upon their “scalp skin” and how it responds to the essential oils. After a while, your scalp will get used to the oils and it may not tingle as much but it still very potent and will still do its job.

Are the body butters safe to wear in the sun?

Our body butter’s main ingredient, shea butter, only has an estimated SPF of 3-4. You can wear it in the sun but we highly recommend layering the body butter with a sunscreen product. If you plan on being in the sun for long hours DO NOT wear it without sunscreen.

Are your products safe for children?

Body butter - Our body butter is safe for children starting at age 3. The body butter should be used in moderation on children due to their sensitive skin.

Scalp therapy - Not recommended for children under 5 years old.

THICK butter hair butter -There are no essential oils in this butter so it is safe for ALL ages to use.

Should I be using THICK butter daily?

THICK butter does not need to be used every day. Using butter on your hair daily could make it harder for moisture from the air, and water to get to your strands, making your hair dry.

We recommend using the butter every other day and water in between to re-twist your hair at night. If your hair starts to feel dry, use a small amount of butter paired with water in a spray bottle.

ALWAYS use THICK butter on wet/damp hair. If using on dry hair be sure to dampen your hair with a spray bottle of water.
