What is Cupuaçu Butter and what does it do for your skin?

Cupuaçu butter (pronounced coo-pwah-soo) is our “I Love My Skin” star ingredient. It has a natural cocoa scent giving “I Love My Skin” its chocolatey smell and more than a handful of benefits for the skin.

Cupuaçu butter is known as Theobroma grandiflorum seed butter, from the Cupuacu Tree which is found in the Amazonian rain forest in Northern Brazil where it has been used for centuries to treat skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

Cupuaçu butter has a unique ability to attract water to the skin making it a “super-moisturizer” due to its hydrophilic (water-loving) properties. It has been scientifically proven to attract 440% more water allowing it to perform as a skin hydrator and plumper. This makes cupuaçu butter the perfect choice for those experiencing severe dry skin conditions, skin that is maturing, and especially for expecting mothers whose skin is usually prone to stretch marks.

To break it down cupuaçu butter is good for our skin for the following reasons:

  • Supports collagen which restores skins elasticity

  • Has rich antioxidants helping to protect skin from environmental aggressors (sun damage and pollution)

  • Provides a high level of hydration keeping skin moisturized for long periods of time.

  • Makes skin soft and pump

  • Proven to treat inflammatory skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

  • Safe for babies and pregnant women
